Professional Profile
Prior to joining MTW, Dr Andrew Bailey was a Consultant Anaesthesiologist at King’s College Hospital, London from 2017. He delivered anaesthesia for paediatric and adult liver transplantation with the centre completing over 250 liver transplants per year. He was also a specialist within cardiac anaesthesia, vascular anaesthesia and offered patient intra-operative trans-oesophageal echocardiography.
Dr Bailey received his medical degree from King’s College London while also attaining a degree in pharmacology and was awarded an Associateship of King’s College (AKC). He completed his residency within the London Deanery, at St George’s Hospital, King’s College Hospital, The Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospital.
Dr Bailey was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal College of Anaesthetists in 2012, and as an Associate Fellow of the Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine in 2022. As part of his commitment to medical education, he is a Member of the Academy of Medical Educators since 2017.
His key areas of interest are anaesthesia for bariatric surgery and interventional treatment of cardiac arrhythmias. Additionally, he offers intra-operative echocardiography and promotes the use of neuroscience monitoring in anaesthesia to optimise the care for the older patient.
