Professional Profile

Dr Bird is one of seven gastroenterologists in Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust. His particular interests are liver disease and endoscopy and he is based in Pye Oliver Ward on the Maidstone site.

The viral hepatitis department is Kent’s largest and works closely with King’s College Hospital as well as having links with the local prisons where chronic viral infection is very common.
In endoscopy, our JAG-accredited department provides a full range of diagnostic and interventional techniques, including ERCP. As a training centre, Maidstone is also involved in the development of medical students, junior doctors as well as specialist trainees.
