Professional Profile
Mr Young qualified from medical school (University College London/The Royal Free) in 2000, going on to complete his Orthopaedic training in London in 2014. He has trained at some of London’s most prestigious Orthopaedic centres, including The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (Stanmore, Middlesex), St. Georges Hospital (Tooting), The Royal Free Hospital and The Royal London.
He trained in knee surgery under the late Mr Neil Bradley at The Royal Surrey County Hospital before undertaking two specialist fellowship years in Brisbane, Australia. The first year focused on joint replacement with cutting edge techniques using computer-assisted navigation and robotic surgery. The second year was spent with Dr Peter Myers, one of the world’s pre-eminent sports knee surgeons, furthering his techniques in joint reconstruction, ligament surgery, meniscal and cartilage preservation and meniscal transplantation.
He was appointed to Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells Hospitals in 2016 as a general trauma consultant with a specialist interest in knee surgery. This includes the management of complex knee fractures, knee ligament injuries including ACL reconstruction and multi-ligament trauma, knee osteotomy and realignment, meniscus and cartilage injuries as well as arthritic conditions for painful knee arthritis in both young and older patients.
